    Heartland Pagan Festival

    Standards of Conduct


    The Heartland Spiritual Alliance and the Gaea Retreat Center expects everyone who attends this festival to act in a responsible manner and obey all local, state and federal laws, thereby protecting Gaea Retreat Center and all in attendance here. Please use your common sense and help us ensure that everyone in attendance has a safe and enjoyable time.


    • Respect the land, respect yourself and respect others.
    • Harassment in any form based on, but not limited to, religion, spirituality, sexual preferences, race, gender, or age is prohibited.
    • Meditation/Ritual sites are situated throughout Gaea and it is expected that these spaces will be respected and offerings left at them should remain undisturbed. Camping is not allowed in these areas.
    • Absolutely no photographs are to be taken of any person on the festival grounds without a written consent form signed by them, or their parent or legal guardian if a minor. This is a non-negotiable issue.
    • Everyone must register upon arrival and pay appropriate fees. No one under 18 is permitted, unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
    • The supervision, safety and behavior of all persons 17 or under are the responsibility of their parent or guardian.
    • Children 12 or under are to be in the direct presence and supervision of their parent or guardian.
    • Swimmers under age 14 must be accompanied by a Parent or guardian. Remember, swim at your own risk, no lifeguards are provided.
    • All firearms, including concealed weapons are strictly prohibited. Please note that your permit to carry is exempted by this policy under KS statutes.
    • Hunting of any type, by any means is prohibited. Fishing is allowed.
    • No person who has been permanently banned from the festival will be allowed on festival grounds.
    • No bass drums are allowed at the festival except the one owned by Earth Rising.
    • Absolutely NO illegal or controlled substances will be tolerated at the festival.
    • Keep all vehicles on the roads, except in designated parking areas. HSA patrons are required to park their vehicles in designated areas and leave them. The Speed Limit is 5 mph. when you arrive and leave - please observe it!
    • Pets of any kind should be under constant supervision or properly caged. Dogs must be kept on leashes, and owners are fully responsible for their actions and cleaning up after them. Pets are NOT allowed in the bath house, main hall, kitchen or dining hall at any time.
    • Use ONLY existing fire pits. Portable fireplaces & grills are permitted.
    • Firewood - bring your own. Downfall may be gathered, but standing trees, alive or in your mind dead, may not be trimmed or otherwise disturbed. Use of existing wood stacks or pre-cut wood is prohibited.
    • HSA has a very active recycling program for glass, aluminum and plastic. Please separate such items from other trash and have them by the nearest roadside for collection by 9 AM or before 4 PM each day.
    • If you find yourself in a situation that you are uncomfortable with or offended by, remove yourself.
    • Cigarette butts are NOT biodegradable—please do not toss them on the ground. No smoking is allowed in any building or in the Pavilion.
    • Personal items left for over 7 days after the festival is over will become the property of Gaea Retreat Center.
    • Sex in public areas is strictly prohibited.
    • There are several law enforcement officers at this festival who are required by law to arrest anyone they observe violating local, state or federal laws and or the rules of HSA.


    Violation of the Standards of Conduct are grounds for dismissal from festival.
